Fair, sustainable funding
Advocate for funding models that reflect the actual cost of safe, quality care, rising operating expenses, and the realities of serving residents across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Advocacy
APCHNL will bring operators together around shared priorities and support constructive, evidence-informed communication with NL Health Services and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Priority areas
These priorities will continue to evolve through consultation, survey results, and member participation.
Advocate for funding models that reflect the actual cost of safe, quality care, rising operating expenses, and the realities of serving residents across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Support clearer, faster reassessment pathways when a resident’s condition changes or their needs exceed the care level currently being funded.
Support and advocate for operators facing disciplinary, compliance, or corrective action from NL Health Services—especially when clear guidance, resources, and practical supports have not been provided.
Strengthen recruitment, retention, workforce development, and practical training for personal care home teams.
Promote resident-centred decisions that value established relationships, familiar surroundings, and continuity of care whenever safe and appropriate.
Improve consistent, constructive communication between operators, NL Health Services, and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
How we will advocate
